a rainy day full of love

June 28th, 2008 , Posted in family, motherhood

We had a pretty yucky day as far as weather goes today.. it was overcast, drizzly, and cold all day today. the kind of cold that goes right through you after all this heat!  Seeing as it was Saturday morning, I let Jackson stay in his jammies until late morning – a treat for sure since he is usually dressed as soon as he’s awake! :)  we filled our morning with snuggles, giggles, puzzles, thomas the train, dancing, making pancakes and dancing around the kitchen all before lunch.  Jackson loves the mixer – he thinks its the coolest thing so he’s always asking for ‘mixing mama!’  I agreed we could whip something up and what is better then a cozy house filled with the scent of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies…. mmmmmmmm…..

after that it was time for lunch a little more playing and coloring and then time for nap… but when Jackson woke up – it was time to taste those cookies! check out his face as I asked him if he wanted to try one of his cookies in the second shot in!  He was too funny!

Pray for no rain tomorrow as I’m supposed to have a session with a cutie pie from last year… :)

Have a great weekend!

I love spending every single day with him.  he is the light of my life.  every single day is a new adventure and he is always fascinated by the smallest stuff… one of the small things that is my favorite is when he gets his jammies on and runs as fast as his little legs can go into our bedroom and climbs up on our bed saying ’shunggle mama, shunggle’ – he takes his green lovey (frog) and chews on the tag as we get cozy under the covers and watch a few minutes of ‘the goodnight show’ on sprout tv. (pbs)  the smell of his clean little body after his tubby, the sound of his little short breaths, the way he looks at you out of the corner of his eye to make sure you’re still ’shunggling,’ the way he giggles when you sneak a kiss, the way he lets you hold him, rub his back or his legs gently and fights to stay awake because it always puts him to sleep, and of course, the smile on his face when you ask if he wants a piggie back ride into his room!  those are the little moments- the moments that happen all within 2 minutes. the moments i dont ever want to forget. the moments that make my grateful for being his mommy.

these pictures are so far from perfect but they are exactly perfect for my heart.  his little face with his lovey (tag and all!) and of course a self portrait of us together..

i love you jackson david.  thank you for being such an amazing soul…

Strawberry Pickin’

June 21st, 2008 , Posted in uncategorized

what a fun afternoon!

I woke up this morning and decided to search around for something fun to do today with the Jack-man. Since I usually book sessions on the weekends, its very rare that I actually have a weekend day off to do something! So I scanned around a few websites and then I saw that it was a strawberry festival at a local orchard! How fun!!! I went strawberry picking when I was younger with my grandmother but haven’t been in years. I forgot how fun it was!

Jacksons loved strawberry picking…(read: strawberry SQUISHING!) but it was definitely fun and a perfect day to spend a gorgeous day outside

We recruited MiMi and Kelly to come along for the fun too… Jackson was psyched! When we got there there was a folk band playing for the kids… of course Jackson had to stop for a little boggie action!

Then the main event.. nope, not strawberries- the TRACTOR HAYRIDE! We could have just circled the whole place on that all day and Jack would have been more then happy! He had to watch everyone get on… as he was yelling to everyone ‘TRACTOR!’

This was his view:

Once we got down to the strawberry patch he was excited once I started to tell him we were going to get berries! One of his favorite things! So here he is checking out all the people already picking..

This was what we started with….

and maaaaybe we had a few snacks along the way…(despite the DO NOT STEAL BERRIES sign!! — OOPS!)
Photobucket

bite size!

gotta find just the right one!
Photobucket

no, those hands dont say guilty or anything!!!
Photobucket

this is what we ended up with :)

Jackson couldn’t get over his red hands- not only his red hands but MiMi’s red hands too!!!
Photobucket

All tuckered out in the stroller ready to head back… strawberry lips and all! (why does he move his hat to the side?? i have no idea?? but it drives me crazy!)
Photobucket

just a few baby berries…
Photobucket

the rows and rows were never ending!
Photobucket

and what a fitting way to end the warm strawberry picking day…. well a strawberry frozen yogurt popcile of course!
Photobucket

Such a funny guy.. we had so much fun… needless to say he’s exhausted!!! All that berry pickin’ wipes ya out!

now what to do with all those berries????!!

Hugs,
Keri
